MMU OC Binding Camp 2007/08

during my 3week sem break, i decided not to let myself rot at home, so i applied to join the orientation committee(OC) to 'orientate' the new batch of freshies for the coming intake. so had to go back uni 2 weeks earlier 1st week for OC binding camp n the 2nd week when the orientation programme begins. well this post has been pending for some time so i'll just make it simple...

4th June, Monday (Day 1)

headed back to uni in the evening. collected our temporary room keys n was given a guys name by the coordinator. he was my mortal n i was his angel n my job was to take care of him during the 2 weeks of camp n orientation. there wasn't much activity on the 1st day and we had our ice breaking session at night in the student briefing area(SBA) and was divided into 7 groups. the SBA will be our lepak place thru the whole binding camp where all the fun and games take place.

i was in Group 5 and though we had our group names, we just called each group by their group number.

my group's logo n the little pockets there wit our names on it were the post box that our angels is suppose to leave notes or goodies for us.

5th June, Tuesday (Day 2)

woke up at 6am. hvnt been to camp for quite some yrs n i'm not used to the routine lifestyle. had to gather in front of the STAD building at 7am for our morning exercise.

1st day of camp n late comers are common, punishment: singing the uni theme song at the top of their voice.

by this time most of us hv already known each of our group members n we started out team building modules.

we had to fit the whole group in a piece of A4 paper....

later at night, we gathered back at the SBA for another session of games n team building modules.

6th June, Wednesday (Day 3)

to start the 3rd day, we gathered same time same place for our morning exercise.

and voila, our group that hasn't won anything at all on the 1st day finished the course 1st!!! so proud of Eric for bein such a great leader when we're all in the dark.

aft the blind folded game we were given a song to perform a musical. our leader chose 'I saw her standing there' by The Beatles which was a really good choice of song indeed. we were only given a few hours to come out wit a play, practice and had to perform aft lunch.

and here comes the good news again, our group won 1st place again in this musical... my heart was beating so fast when Nicky was announcing the results starting fr the lowest score, i was preparing to hear our group name being announce(cos i think we did a not-so-good job compared to the other groups), but group aft group, i didnt hear us bein called. finally it was the final 2, its either 1st or 2nd place, n i tot 2nd place wud be us, but its wasnt our group name being called out... wow... 1st place! damn we were happy!!! good job Group 5!

the next module would be this public speaking thing that involves auctioning gigolos...

later, there was sport session in the evening... despite all the modules my group won in the day, we really sucked at this leg-tying game. i think we took the longest time to complete the game. the gals cud not catch up wit the guys who had really long legs and took very big steps.

7th June, Thursday (Day 4)

finally, last day of binding camp... though only a short time together, most of us were already starting to miss the tears and laughter we shared for the pass 3 days.

in the evening, the camp organizers told us they had this special activity specially for us. they told us to dress in dark coloured clothes n reminded us not to bring any valuables wit us. we guess that for sure we will be drenched in water, but didnt know how.

at the given time, all of us gather at the HB4 food court, and were told to take a seat n tie up our legs. we tot it was another session of games and no one suspected anything. we sat there and Nicky ask us to close our eyes and think back on the 1st day we came back to uni, took our keys and chk in to our rooms, had our ice breaking and carried out our modules on the 1st day of camp until something happened. n i was there, wit my eye close, picturing wat Nicky had said... something happened? wat happened la? i thought...

i heard some movement beside me n then the next thing i knew... i heard some gals scream, and then, SPLASH!!! and i screamed too...

saw the water? landed nicely on my head...

n we still blur blur sit there let them splash water till someone yelled, "untie yourselves la!"

we had our last dinner together, with every OC present...

sang "Those were the days" and had our OC cheer on the last night of binding camp.

being an oc, joining the binding camp was truly an unforgettable experience, n i nv regret 'sacrificing' my 2 weeks of hols. until registration day, when the freshies arrive, thats when we really get bz...

well, i wasn't doin much during the 1st week of hols besides cleaning up the house n watching some drama series... 2nd week (this week) was much more eventful...

then today (more like 1st of June) finally went to watch Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World's End and Shrek 3 wit Kenneth. enjoyed both movies but i think Shrek 1 & 2 was better... the 3rd wasn't really up to my expectations...

having dinner at Bar.B.Q Plaza

was having a great time till during dinner, its was when the series of unfortunate events started. 1st there were some chgs in plans with the meeting with Yen n Wai Kit, but we manage to sort things out. then when i was driving Kenneth's car back to Rawang, i dunno how some 'thing' hit and smashed the windscreen... well i've experienced this kind of situation b4 but not when I AM driving, i guess this wud be my very 1st time... i was on the verge of panicking but still manage to pull myself together and switch to the slower moving lane but still got honked by some other vehicles as i was not careful enuf when chging lanes. i really didnt know wat to do so i kept on driving slowly while calling Kenneth and Wai Kit... yeah dangerous to drive n talk on the phone but still it was dark n i'm not gonna stop beside the highway in the middle of nowhere all alone... it really was kinda a frightening experience for me but still manage to drive back to Kenneth's house n by that time this was how the smashed windscreen looked like...

so much for the car now i hv to postpone today's shopping & Italiannies trip wit my sis n Xiao Chen to another day... so, i was really late in meeting Wai Kit n Yen and the unfortunate event didnt end here. later when we're about to leave, Yen's dad who came to pick her called and say that the car over heated -.-" i knew something was wrong by the way Yen was talking to him n i was like not so sueh gua... takkan the windscreen smashed? lucky it wasnt but we didnt know where to find a mechanic shop that was open at that time, but lucky they still manage to sort things out...

i guess thats a really 'great' start for a new month...

when i'm really bored, and i cant find anything productive to do, i'll click on the 'MyPictures' icon on my desktop, and find myself laughing to myself while looking thru my collections of photos.

some say, Form 6 is a waste of time spending a year and a half there, when u can opt for other less time consuming options such as A Levels, Matriks... some say it was foolish of me for not accepting my offer to study in Matriks, where it wud be easier to get into IPTA.

but i nv regretted attending Form 6. one and a half years of bitter sweet memories is something money cant buy. i realised how much i miss life as a 6th Former.

the only bitter moment was most probably dealing wit HIM!!! urgh dun wanna elaborate much... other than that, life was almost perfect.

aft watching the sunrise thru my window for the past 4 days
i've finally finished 4 papers out of 5subs
though it was only the 2nd last paper
but it felt like exam was over
we headed off for a meal of '纸包鸡' (chicken wrapped in paper) and watched Spiderman 3 right aft our paper today

i cant express how relief i was, aft goin thru 4 days of hell...
(might not be as bad as hell)
STPM was not that bad oso, at least we had breaks in between...

1 more left... i so cant wait... hols... i'm coming...

Global Warming

dunno wats wrong wit the weather lately... its either damn hot, or it just rains heavily out of a sudden. i wud prefer the latter but that rarely hpns.

its study week but how to study in such a hot condition? i usually wake up like 1-2pm during study weeks but lately the heat wakes me up at 10 am... i guess i wont need my handy alarm clock for a while.

waking up wit my hair n clothes 'soaking' in sweat, pillow n bed sheet damp wit sweat. if i had a washing machine, I'd chg my sheets everyday. I'd bathe like 3-4times a day... i wish i had a small refrigerator in my room so i can at least hv cold drinks n dun need to walk all the way down fr 5th floor to get 1...

i hear the faint thunder from a distance n see the sky getting cloudy. oh pls rain! then I'll cancel my trip to the lib n get some good sleep...

the series of unfortunate events that has been befalling Kenneth for the pass few weeks seems to have taken a turn on me... today is just not my day...

1st, i was a prisoner in my own room when the room lock decided to get spoilt at the last min when i wanted to go out for lunch. i was locked inside my room so i decided to call my frens for help, n when they came up n try to unlock the door fr outside, its still wouldn't work. so they went to the office to get help for me. but i'm smart, b4 someone came to rescue me, i'd already rescued myself... haha... used a screwdriver to open the lock then figure out the mechanism, and voila! i unlocked the door! but still hv to wait 4 the staff to come fix the stupid lock.

then aft lunch came back to hostel n was nicely relating the previous incident to my room mate. was tired talking then wanted a drink. and being super smart, i spilled the water all over my desk -.-" my notes, mouse n keyboard must be delighted to go for a swim on a sunny afternoon like today...

i hv this uneasy feeling. i wonder wats next?

MMU Awards

attended the 2nd MMU Awards wit Director Daniel and some EngSoc frens. well, didnt really know why i wud spend RM20 on some sucky event like these, i guess the main reasons were to support my frens who were performing that night, see how MMU events are organized and basically just to kill time...

the overall deco and settings were so-so... nothing special.

food was worse... this pudding sure looks good... but taste... erm... i think u can guess wat i wanna say...

and we we're served white rice wit this... some chopped up veges, squid and chicken fillets(which looked like 'fu yong dan'). Daniel and i were busy-bodying bout some stuffs while every1 on our table were bz wit the food. by the time it was our turn there wasnt much stuff left for us... this is wat hpns when u go bz-bodying at the wrong time. but its ok, the food sucked anywayz...

well wasnt paying much attention to the whole event besides the Chinese drums performances... thru out the nite we were just bz playing around wit our digi cams...

Enchanted Night 2007: A Touch of Sugar Frost

*caution: this is gonna be a super long post, so prepare to get enchanted!!!

the long awaited Enchanted Night has finally arrived. there were so many last minute details to take care of... printing the programme book, preparing the door gifts, printing many last minute stuff the director sent me, getting a necklace last minute so match my outfit, accompany director for last minute hair cut... haha... but it was all worth while...

i was already a winner b4 everything even started. of cos i didnt win 'Best Dressed' in that outfit, its just that i had partially completed the sash by getting the words done and i'm so proud of myself. and of cos i didnt win the nokia 6680 either... just wanted to feel like a winner.

introducing the other winner, the 'Best Dressed' for the male category.... my beloved event director, Mr Daniel Tan Leong Yuan! *applause applause* if he's the director, then i'm his secretary-turned-personal assistant(no kidding). great director but loses his directions sometimes, n was nice enuf to 38 wit me b4 we went to Palace to get some serious work done.

so aft 38-ing around, we went to campus to collect the deco stuffs, there was like heaps n heaps of stuffs, and we were trying to fit them into 4 cars but still unable to fit them all. took 1 and half hours doin that and then we were finally on our midnight journey to palace. when we arrived, things weren't really smooth sailing, we were hold up at the loading bay for quite some time and then we carried a few rounds of deco to the royal ballroom, and later to our dismay, the trees that we requested for our decorations were not supplied to us. it wasn't a good start at all so we just hv to finish up whatever deco that we can. by the time we started work i think it was bout 2-3am...

we planned to finish the deco by 4-5am but we were still doin it till the large trees arrived bout 10am... no sleep at all, i was awake for more than 24hrs. some committees cud tell cos i was blabbering bout stuff which i had no idea wat i was talking about... i really cud use some rest... finally headed back to campus bout 12pm n had to go back to Palace wit director at 1pm. less than an hour to clean up, pack my stuffs n grab something to eat and then headed off to Palace again.

by the time we're back at Palace, most of the deco's were almost done and the tables were nicely set. performers hv arrived for the rehearsal session, n the emcee was way cool, DJ Kishz, the Resh Monu look alike. forgot to snap a pic of him though...

then it was almost 7pm n i hvnt even chg into my prom dress n do my hair n make up, was still bz doin some last mins stuffs. then other committees started to arrive n they rushed me to chg into my outfit. that time guest were starting to arrive... all the gal committees hogged the wash room and turned it into our changing room. was bz putting on my dress and running around the damn clean wash room bare footed, tied my hair into style, panicking wit my make up as all the other gals already had theirs done n i'm no pro in make up. but turns out i did my own make up for the very 1st time n it turned out well, some even tot i put on make up everyday cos i looked so pro when putting make up... haha... another achievement i'm proud of!

then headed back to the hall n met some of my friends in the hall way so stopped to snap some pics wit them. the VIP, Prof Chua arrived early as usual. then was bz scouting for best dressed nominees wit some other committees, and had a really tough time trying to get all the guest into the hall. everyone was either cam whoring, or waiting for their frens to bring their tics whatsoever. but we had to start the event anyway wit only half the hall filled as half the guest were still in their own world outside the hall. missed my director's speech as i was still inviting ppl int the hall -.-"

finally got to seat at my table wit my frens n have some good food. didnt eat much b4 the event.

later thru out the nite, aft the VIP left, the crowd got wild, every 1 was moving about here and there snapping pics... and the emcees had a surprise performance for us, 4 guys and 4 gals were called on to the stage... and... the gals get to put on make up for the guys!! and later the guys were required to put on a wig and scarf and dance along wit some Crazy Frog song. my, was it hilarious, and those were 1 bunch of sporting guys. n the winner walked away wit RM50 sponsored by the emcee.

nearing the end the prom king and queen winners were annouced, as expected, the crowds favourite won. aft the king n queen had their dance the ballroom turned into a disco as guest filled the dance floors. i didnt dance, i dunno how to dance thats the prob n i dun hv the guts...

urgh!! i didnt get a place in hostel for the next coming academic year. i'm not pissed because i didnt get, i'm PISSED that they did the selection randomly, n i, the unlucky 1 didnt get. n now, double work preparing letter of appeal n supporting documents.

damned!!! damned!!! this is so unfair!!! they gave reasons such as mayb my CGPA is not good enuf, my home town is not far enuf, i'm no active in extra co-curricular activity... but my @$$... i actually fulfilled all those, and some students dont! and some who got a place are not even gonna stay in the hostel next year cos they are already planning to move out! argh...

i hate this!!!!

just got back from my Orientation Committee interview, n we the interviewees had to perform a dance on the spot... damn n my fren was outside of the room looking at me do my crappy dance. but overall it went well hope i get the post so i get to stay in hostel... (which is the main motive i applied to join haha).

this week's gonna be a really bz week. still got lots of stuffs to do, assignments, tutorial homework, Enchanted Night preparations... but i just gotta take some time to finish up some belated posts n update my blog.

got quite a number of birthdays to attend this yr as my batch of frens are all turning 21... attended Xiao Chen's 20th bday + her STPM 4.0 celebration on 31st March, but got no pics to post so i just curi 1 fr her blog... muahaha...

Dim Sum, Movies & Shoes(not again)

went on a date wit Ken. its been so long since we last went on a proper date, the last time was on Vday i think. there's this really nice Chinese restaurant in 1U called Chuai Heng, n on weekdays they hv 50% off on selected dim sums during lunch hours. superb!!! love the dim sums there n finally get to dine there wit my dear.

some of the steamed dim sums, really worth the money though its a bit more expensive compared to those hawker stalls dim sum. i'm so hungry now... i wanna eat dim sum!!!

later, went to Padini Concept Store, n got another pair of wedges. omg, at this rate, i'm so gonna be broke even b4 i graduate n get my own job... *sob* why do all those shoes look so damn nice? n i actually saw another pair i like but of cos i didnt buy it... though i really wanted too...

aft lunch n some light grocery shopping wit Siew Wui (Ken cant stand us so he went for a nap in the car), its time for our movie, so i gotta go wake Ken up n in order that he doesnt fall asleep during to movie, we chose 2 comedies, Just Follow Law n Mr Bean's Holiday. nice movies, though i've watched the 1st 1 b4 but still ended up laughing at Ken laughing. Mr Bean was dumb as usual but i like the storyline.

1st to go in the cinema n trailers were not played yet... so... cam whore la!

and finally ended our day wit dinner at Murni's. i need more time wit u... miss u so much...

Shoes(again?) & Shogun

mid term exams are over... so the gang headed towards 1u for a Japanese food feast at Shogun!!! that very day we went 2 Macroeconomics class without our usual files n notes, just brought ourselves n handbags n fled right aft class... haha...

bus journey there was smooth n now i know its really convenient to go shopping even though u're stuck in the ghost town, Cyberjaya. upoan reaching, we secured out movie tickets for 'Just Follow Law' n then went shopping!!! there were sales everywhere!!! n there was 1 place i had to go: Padini Concept Store. n then... *joy to the world, the shoes were on sale!* n straight away i saw 2 pairs that i liked which was on 50% off *double joy to the world* well i guess i dun hv to tell u wat i did aft that... Ken(my uni fren) says i shud get a bf who designs n makes shoes... how nice wud that be *grin*

n goodbye to my old sandals that served me well thru those sunny n rainy days

went to catch our movie aft i reserved my shoes(so that i cud collect it later n not hv 2 shoes boxes troubling me while i hv a great time wit my frens). Just Follow Law was hilarious, potraying how the government system works. love singaporean movies, funny but meaningful unlike stupid hong kong comedies...

then there was this F1 exhibition n we went there just to kill time cos Shogun dinner starts at 6.30pm...

n finally happily enjoying the japanese buffet that we all longed for the whole day. this is my 4th time dining there n i hvnt manage to try all the dishes... wantedto take some pic of our food but the waiter stopped us. i saw a no-taking-photos-of-the-food warning outside the restaurant but i dunno wats the rationale behind that. wats wrong taking photos of the food, indirectly promoting for u all wat... *confused*

later, was heading back to uni aft a great day n got a msg fr my mum saying that my great-grandmother just passed away.

she was 103 yrs old. i didnt really felt sad, felt more of relief as she has already been thru so much, n its finally time for her to rest in peace. though i wasnt that close to her as communication was a barrier, she spoke only Hakka n i didnt understand Hakka at all, mayb just a little. i rmb when i was still a little girl n every time she came to grandma's house, she wud buy packets of jelly for us(all her great grand children), n she wud also give us pocket money to spend. but as time goes by, her hearing n eyesight deteriorated, n she cud not see nor hear us clearly anymore. n she kept mistaken me for my mum. Ah Tai, may u rest in peace.

its has finally rained!!! hooray!!! finally i can get some good cooling sleep... n i dun care if it floods again cos my hostel is on high grounds... muahahahaha....

was reading thru some frens blog due to boredom resulting fr studying, only to discover that i've been tagged (for the very 1st time) by dear Wai Kit. so here goes...

BB's 6 Idiosyncrasies:

1. i love chking out shoes!!! whether its on display in a shop, scattered outside of hostel rooms or worn by someone(i can even tell wat brand they are), i just cant help but chk them out. i'm a shoe freak...

2. 2 vegetables that i'll never eat: bitter gourd n 'chou cai' (smelly vegetable i call it, i think its called Chinese parsley).

3. i like horror movies BUT i wud never watch horror movies in the cinema. not just because the sound effects scares me, its because horror stories usually hv this blurry storyline that u've to figure out most of it by yourself. i wouldn't wanna pay to watch something i dun understand, pirated dzd is a better option... haha...

4. i hv a thing for earrings... i dun seem to get enuf of them... i've been changing bigger n bigger boxes to accommodate almost all of them.

5. i love to eat!!! till lately i started controlling my diet to avoid unnecessary consumption as my metabolic rate is not as high as b4...

6. i bite my nails. in order to stop myself, i paint my nails.

3 mid term exams ahead and i feel so lazy to study. its always like that...help me!!! tried to at least look thru the notes but ended up doin other stuffs the whole day.

- overslept, but still manage to wake up in time to go Alamanda with KPH.
- had a super filling meal (though i didnt order my regular grilled chicken foldover) at McD, courtesy of some vouchers my fren gave me.
- ended up buying 2 surf pants for my perfect beach vacation at BodyGlove as it was on 50% off. - headed back to uni soon aft as there wasnt much to shop at Alamada.
- swept n moped my room n did my dirty laundry.
- watched the remaining episodes of Paradise Kiss, ending sucks... i know its lame but i like happy endings. then continued wit American Idol...
- on Virtual Villagers 2 n let it run while i tried reading notes. a virus threat was detected n i went all panicky scanning my comp.
- still tried to study but missed someone badly n got distracted by roomie watching the same episode of American Idol i watched earlier.

now? blogging cos i feel so lazy to study... die...

i thought we could go hv a taste of the delicious kebab(why delicious? cos Naab made them), ended up smelling the mouth watering fragrant, making ourselves hungry n went to class empty stomach... (did bought a set of Nando's on the way to class so its not that empty ;-p)

21 years ago, on this very day, the BB was born!!!

in a blink of an eye, the BB turns 21. gone were the childhood days and teenage years. this is the day she steps into adulthood. the BB had a huge bday celebration last week but was too bz wit uni stuffs n editing pics so the post will be up in a short time. pls sabar a bit...

the BB got loads of bday presents but the greedy BB didnt get enuf. so, she took herself for a shopping spree!!! n these are wat she got for herself:
